The simulation of the surface solar radiative flux has been performed at GAME observation sites using GMS-5 cloud data and surface measured data, which include both the total solar broadband (0.3 to 2.8 micron) and visible spectral narrowband (7 channels). Rstar5b, developed by Nakajima (1988), is used for simulation. We assume random cloud overlapping with cloud cover and cloud optical thickness from GMS-5, which is retrieved by Okada (2000). For the atmospheric profile, we use NCEP reanalysis of every 6 hours data. Aerosol optical thickness and aerosol size distribution analyzed by SKYRAD.pack (Nakajima, 1996b) are used for calculation at Si-Samrong in Thiland, and Mandalgovi in Mongolia. The comparison between simulation using GMS-5 data and observation at GAME surface measurement sites shows different results according to the site, season and so on. The results at Mandalgovi, dry region, show good accordance whose error within 10 W/m2. Under the clear sky condition, in December at Si-Samrong, show good results, but in February and March, the fluctuations between two values are increased, and we can see the positive bias. The range of the values of observations is more changeable than that of calculation, this might be derived by smaller cloud optical thickness, uncertainty of the distribution of the aerosol or water vapor profile.
